Hey everyone, I really want to thank you all for giving me a second chance to get this paid off. As for the BTC/USD volatility that is something I'm willing to take a chance on. With the continuous overall downward trend, a standard BTC loan should work out in my favor.

karate.dan, you're missing the point. If your income is tied to USD, you get paid $x that might one payday be 2 BTC and might the next be 0.5 BTC. If you owe say 10 BTC, you can see where you might be in trouble. Converting to BTC is not the same as being paid in BTC.

Ok let's get real, down and dirty. This guy is borrowing BTC over a year. If the bitcoin doubles he'll have to pay double back which will (A) crucify him and make him less able to pay and (B) seriously increase his risk of default or simply unable to pay. I don't buy the mathematics of this particular case. It seems to me he's taking a huge chance that he can't afford to pay. I don't see anything in this borrowers proposition that he's able to handle a 100% increase in the BTC price during his loan (which is highly possible, read that exactly, highly possible) indeed. This seems to me a totally unstable proposition so I'm not investing. I'm out on this one.

But there will always be an exchange rate for BTC/USD so he can trade his USD for BTC with his income. If the $ price of BTC goes up then his paycheck buys him less BTC. If price goes down, his paycheck buys him more. It's an extremely volatile currency -- I know a lot of accounts here have been wiped out by being on the wrong side of the huge swings in value....

@karate.dan a USD-tied loan is not a gamble assuming he got a guaranteed USD income from his job.

It's a gamble either way. USD/BTC if you think price will go up for the next year. BTC/BTC if you think it will go down.

Agreed that refinancing as Coindesk/USD seems like a better strategy. Could you comment on that JPowers?

He can get the funding because he's obviously genuine and will probably pay it back. My only concern is for him really (rather than the investors) because if the bitcoin shoots up he's going to get absolutely screwed. I would offer him pity rather than anything else really.

also against the borrower is that he's asking for 365 days finance which in BTC terms is LIGHT YEARS. He is betting on BTC price for 365 days which in my view is totally insane. In 365 days BTC price can go all over the place. It could easily double which would leave him high & dry and unable to pay back. I cannot rate this loan as a viable proposition (and wont' be investing) I just feel sorry for this guy getting himself into such an awkward position as he is. If he did it in Coindesk over 90 days he'd be better off. 365 days trusting this guy to repay in BTC just doesn't seem to be a realistic bet for anyone to invest and I am sorry to say I think the loan is too weak a prospect to be realistic to invest in at all.

If I was the borrower I'd try to cancel this loan listing and attempt to re-do it as a CoinDesk loan which would put him in a more stronger and safer position to do his re-borrowing. He is already 'borrowing from peter to pay paul' (English term for re-borrowing to cover existing borrowing) and exposing himself to a possibly rising BTC price is possibly going to get him into further debt problems he will not be able to handle. If BTC goes up he's going to get a massive BTC bill to repay the loan which he won't be able to meet and will make him more likely to be forced into default on both his loans.

@dkaparis agreed - I worry that the BTC price will go up which will make the situation even harder for this guy. I applaud him attempting to repair his credit with a second loan but I doubt he's got a solid pitch for this second loan, based in BTC which (might well rise) over the next few months, it might get him deeper & deeper into trouble and not be able to pay back. If it was coindesk-tied I might have invested to help him out but in BTC he's taking more risks than I am convinced he can handle if BTC goes up he's going to be in a right "pickle" (English term)

Is it possible to publish a refinancing loan as USD-tied?
As I understand, the borrower will be using his new job income to repay, which I assume is in USD. There is a real possibility a significant rise in BTC price in the coming months will make his situation even harder.

At first, I was a little skeptical of these refinancing loans (especially loans for GAW purchases - I've got a pile of worthless hashlets myself), but if people are putting in the effort to make good instead of ignoring their debts and going MIA, then it's gotta be a good thing. You've got a lot of good people backing you, so I'll throw a bit in also, and good luck!

Fair and good question. Jordan had already borrowed and paid a 10BTC loan prior to this one. That's not in the scamming rule book. Secondly, he got caught up in the craziness of crypto implosion over the past 2 months and he paniced. He owed 10 BTC immediately without the menas to pay it off. he had the ability when he took out the loan.

Yes, he went quiet and I know that makes everyone go balistic, but he came back to do the right thing. I also learned a lot about the person Jordan is and he didn't/doesn't strike me as someone who would intentionally take from others. I don't think he's a bad guy and now he's ready to fix this. He owned his mistake and that's good enough for me.

I believe in second chances and I've learned to let my anger go as it will simply tear us apart and make us miserable and possibly lead to problems in various aspects of life. I hope this answers your question in a round about sort of way. Truth be told, I could have been Jordan when I was 26/27

Good job Jordan and welcome back. It would be great if everyone can put in what you originally invested with Jordan. We had a lengthy discussion early today and he's ready to make good on everything. Trust me, he's beaten himself up a lot over this and he went into frozen panic mode. I know we five people second chances when they're ready to do the right thing.
